two-channel video installation, 2019
Video installation Close to Heaven is dedicated to Soslanbek Edziev (1865-1953), an outstanding sculptor and one of the most important representatives of naive art from North Ossetia-Alania. The installation was created within a residency for artists in Vladikavkaz at Alanica 12 Symposium and was a part of Look Back to the Future exhibition at National Museum of Nothern Ossetia-Alania.
Video installation combines movement and peace. This is a dance in the mountains and the last inhabitants of the almost abandoned highland village Khod, where Edziev was born, and the stillness of outstanding art works - gravestones created by Edziev in the abandoned cemetery of Karman-Sinzikau village.
